Three members of the Norfolk Race Team recently travelled across the Irish Sea to take part in a weekend of racing at the Ski Club of Ireland in Kilternan, just south of Dublin.
On Saturday 1st October, it was the SCI International Slalom Race and Dual Slalom Team Events. Dan Molloy was first in the SEN category and fourth overall, Charlie Howe was fourth in U18 category and twelfth overall, and Joseph Thompson was first in U14 category and nineteenth overall. All racers were included in the dual slalom event and Dan Molloy was part of the winning England B team. Charlie competed in the England C team whilst Joseph was part of the interestingly named Wenglish C team!
Sunday saw the Irish Open Championships. Dan Molloy again was first in SEN and fourth overall, Joseph was first in U14 and sixteenth overall, whilst Charlie was sixth in U18 and seventeeth overall.
It was an amazing weekend and everyone was made to feel so welcome. The hospitality of the Ski Club of Ireland was second to none, food and drink served all day to racers and supporters (included in the entry fee!), a superb ski slope, and smiling faces all the way – definitely worth the (very long) journey!
