About Racing

Posted April 23rd, 2012 by Racing

We have an active race group which competes at all levels of competition - see the racing blog for results and news. Our racers take part in club events, regional races and national competitions including the English and British Championships. The club's success can be judged by the number of English and British champions it has produced. The club encourages the development of aspiring races, both adults and children by providing entry through either Junior Club or dedicated 'come and try' race orientated coaching sessions.
The club offers coaching to National standards for those successful racers whose 'seed points' meet the qualifying requirements; this provides a route into both National teams and Snow races.
To encourage all members to experience the thrill or racing the club runs its own Club Championships (and Fireworks) around the 5th of November each year, and a Night Slalom during February or March.
If you are interested in racing please speak either to reception or your instructor who will be able to direct you to a member of the Race Coaching team

About Snowboarding

Posted October 21st, 2008 by Snowboard

Norfolk Snowsports Club runs a 6 hour course of beginner's snowboarding for £60 which runs for hour and a half for 4 consecutive weeks.  Please see our lessons tab for more details on these.

For improvers, we run sessions on Monday evenings from 7-8 or 8:30-9:30 depending on your boarding level.  You need to be a member to attend these sessions (please see our prices tab) and each hour is £6.50.

Supervised Level 2 from 7-8pm gives students an opportunity to consolidate skills learnt in beginner lessons to, in an open environment, comfortable link their turns in preperation for the main slope.

Supervised Level 3 from 8:30-9:30pm gives students a chance to refine all their skills learnt in a controlled environment on the main slope.  Instructors will be around at all times to help you achieve the goals you need to meet in order to be signed off.

Once you are signed off you are free to ride at Open Practice or, if desired, progress to Freestlye.
Monday evenings will be focused on improvers and therefore from 7-8pm the Open Practice will be on the intermediate slope only.

For Freestyle training and sign-off, you will need to attend the 8:30-9:30pm sessions on a Monday evening in order to practice your skills and show that you are capable to attend the weekly Freestlye session without supervision.

The Thursday Freestyle Session is from 6-10pm each week and costs £5.50 per hour or £11 for the night and is designed to get out as many of our toys as possible and give you all a chance to develop your skills and push the Freestlye scene within the Club.  This has led to our Farmer's Jam running regular in late Summer and various other freestlye events.
